tadalafil

As-needed or daily oral tablet

Tadalafil is a PDE5 inhibitor. It relaxes blood vessels and increases blood flow to the penis, helping you get and keep an erection with sexual stimulation.

What it treats

  • Erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult men
  • Symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in some cases

Who shouldn't take it

  • Taking the pulmonary-hypertension drug riociguat
  • Recent heart attack, stroke, or life-threatening arrhythmia
  • Known hypersensitivity to tadalafil

Warnings & precautions

  • An erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism) is a medical emergency — seek care
  • Sudden loss of vision or hearing — stop and get help
  • Blood-pressure effects when combined with alpha-blockers or other BP medicines
  • Sexual activity carries some cardiac risk if you have heart disease

  • Flushing
  • Indigestion
  • Nasal congestion
  • Back pain or muscle aches
